The School Hawk, by Elliot

I remember the hawk.

It was January 29th 2021. Gareth and Tonia were teaching us. It was during the lockdown.

I was late to class when I saw it.

It saw me first. I was in the common room and I saw it flying through the bottom of the school-yard. I left my laptop with Tonia and I just ran.

I stumbled and couldn’t believe my eyes.

It was the first hawk I had ever seen. Its eyes looked so big. Like two gigantic yellow marbles.

I wasn’t scared. The first thing I did was run to Gareth and Tonia.

They didn’t believe me. Gareth said it was probably a pigeon.

But then I led him down to the bottom of the school garden and there it was, in all its glory.

We took some photographs on my brother Jamie’s old camera. This is my favourite.

We also made a quick video. Let us know what you think of it. I like it.

I wonder where the hawk is now. Last January seems a long way away from here.

Thanks for reading! Elliot

  1. Hey Elliott, what amazing photography, so detailed. Good for you. I saw your pictures on the wall last week and was very impressed with them too. Will look at your others right now.
